An independent calculator site, not a bank marketing page.

The Calculator exists because most UK financial calculators online are either American tools with the wrong rules, or British bank pages that quietly steer you toward the bank's own products. Neither is built to just answer the question.

What we do

Five focused calculators covering the most common UK financial decisions: stamp duty on a property purchase, mortgage repayments, income tax take-home pay, pension contribution tax relief, and savings growth. Each tool ships with the underlying formula, the official source, and the edge cases the generic calculators miss — Scottish LBTT bands, Welsh LTT, Personal Allowance taper, pension annual allowance charges, ISA vs PSA comparisons.

What we don't do

No affiliate links to mortgage lenders. No lead-capture forms selling your data to brokers. No "compare the best credit cards" sponsored sections. The only monetisation is contextual advertising (Google AdSense), which is clearly labelled and separated from editorial content.

Author & review

Editor

The Calculator is maintained by a small editorial team based in the United Kingdom. The lead editor holds qualifications in UK personal taxation and has over a decade of experience writing about mortgage, pension, and income tax regulation for consumer audiences. All calculator logic is written, tested, and signed off by the editor before publication.

Review process

Every tax band, threshold, and formula is cross-checked against the relevant gov.uk, HMRC, Revenue Scotland, or Welsh Revenue Authority publication before publication. Each page lists its sources and last-updated date. Updates are applied within one week of any rate change announced by the Chancellor or regional finance minister. Suspected errors reported by readers are investigated within one business day.

The Calculator is an independent publication. It is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and does not provide financial advice. All content is for educational purposes only.
