Calculator methods and sources

Canada Income Tax Calculator 2026

Federal taxable income deducts the first and second additional CPP or QPP contributions and the entered RRSP amount. Quebec provincial taxable income also deducts 6% of eligible work income, capped at CA$1,450. The model then applies the applicable 2026 brackets and basic credits; Quebec also uses QPP, QPIP, reduced EI and the federal abatement. Canada Mortgage Calculator

Canadian fixed mortgage interest is converted from nominal semi-annual compounding to an equivalent monthly rate. A down payment below 20% adds the applicable CMHC premium to principal; insured amortization beyond 25 years adds the published 0.20-percentage-point surcharge. Qualification uses the greater of the contract rate plus two percentage points or 5.25%, with 39% GDS and 44% TDS reference limits. CMHC — homeowner mortgage loan insurance premiums

Canada Auto Loan Calculator

Sales tax uses the province selected and the taxable amount entered. Principal equals vehicle price minus cash down and trade-in credit, plus sales tax and financed fees. The entered contract interest rate drives fixed monthly amortization. Financial Consumer Agency of Canada — car-financing options

Canada Credit Card Payoff Calculator

Each month adds balance multiplied by the annual rate divided by 12, then subtracts the fixed payment. The last payment falls to the remaining amount due. The model assumes no new purchases, cash advances, fees or rate changes. Financial Consumer Agency of Canada — credit card payment calculator

RRSP Tax Savings Calculator 2026

Estimated tax savings equal federal plus provincial tax before the RRSP deduction minus tax after it. CPP/QPP, EI and QPIP do not fall because an RRSP deduction does not change employment earnings for those contributions. Canada Revenue Agency — 2026 RRSP dollar limit

TFSA Contribution Room Calculator 2026

Remaining current room equals January 1 room minus current-year contributions, floored at zero. Any excess is shown as a possible over-contribution. Current-year withdrawals are displayed separately as the amount restored next January. Canada Revenue Agency — calculate TFSA contribution room

Canada Compound Interest Calculator

The effective annual rate is converted to an equivalent monthly rate. Growth is applied before each month-end contribution. Today’s value discounts the future balance by the entered annual inflation rate. Bank of Canada — posted interest rates offered by chartered banks

Canada Sales Tax Calculator

For a pre-tax amount, each tax portion equals price multiplied by its rate. For a tax-included total, the pre-tax value equals total divided by one plus the combined rate. Quebec uses 5% GST plus 9.975% QST. Canada Revenue Agency — GST/HST calculator and provincial rates

Editable inputs

Contract rates, RRSP and TFSA room, taxable purchase amounts, housing costs, debt payments and savings assumptions must be replaced with figures from the relevant record or offer.

Review triggers

Tax, contribution and registered-plan limits are checked for each calendar year. Mortgage rules are checked when OSFI, CMHC or federal eligibility changes. Reference rates are checked when the cited Bank of Canada series publishes a newer selected observation.
